The Writers of the Future team created props based on Dan dos Santos’s cover art for L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 40. We got to ham it up with a saber tooth cat, the shaman’s staff, and copious mastodon tusks.

The writer winners of the Writers of the Future contest, had been waiting impatiently to see the artwork created by the illustrator winners. I expected to see a scene from my story “Five Days Until Sunset” literally depicted. Instead, Steven Bentley created something that expressed the sense of possibility I was trying to communicate. He’s an amazing artist.

Steve Bentley was one of the Illustrator of the Future winners, and created an illustration for my story “Five Days Until Sunset“. What he created blew me away. You can see it in Writers of the Future Volume 40.

Writers of the Future winners participate in a week-long master class given by some of the most respected science fiction and fantasy writers.

In the writing master class, I spent far more time listening than talking, but this was one of the times I got to pontificate.

I got to spend a week with the twelve other winners of the Writers of the Future contest, including James Davies and Tom Vandermolen.
